Production Terms

The package you select at checkout (your “Package”), for the book you provide (the “Book”):

• Marketing Package. One cinematic video trailer for the Book, and one cinematic poster.
• Episode Package. The number of cinematic episodes shown at checkout (each roughly 1–3 minutes), produced from storyboards you approve, plus everything in the Marketing Package (trailer + poster), plus featured placement of your series in the Ambient Books app and promotional posts featuring your series on the Ambient Books TikTok and Instagram accounts.

You keep all rights to the Book — text, characters, world, everything. Nothing in this agreement transfers, sells, or encumbers any of your publishing rights, and you remain free to pursue any other adaptation, audio, translation, film, or licensing deal at any time.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to: (a) create the video and image content described above from the Book; (b) display that content, alongside the Book’s listing, in the Ambient Books app; and (c) promote that content and the Book on our website and social channels. That’s the whole license — it covers your Package only.

We own the produced video and image assets (the episodes, trailer, and poster). You receive a permanent, worldwide, royalty-free marketing license to use the poster and the trailer — and, with the Episode Package, one full episode of your choice — anywhere you like: your social channels, ads, newsletter, website. The remaining episodes are reserved for viewing inside the Ambient Books app; we may share short excerpts of them on our own channels to promote your series. If you’d like to share an additional episode somewhere specific, just ask — where it helps the series, we can approve it in writing. If Ambient Books ever ceases operating, your marketing license survives and automatically extends to all produced episodes.

Production runs in milestones: storyboard → your approval → production → publication with your go-ahead. We do not publish anything you have not approved.

Your notes on characters, outfits, and storyboards are included — two rounds at each stage. Because episodes and trailers are produced only from storyboards you’ve approved, the finished videos themselves aren’t revised: the storyboard stage is where every note gets captured, so bring all of them there. If a finished video materially deviates from its approved storyboard, we’ll correct that at no charge.

Your Package is paid in full at checkout, via Stripe; receipts are issued automatically.

Selling your eBook in the Ambient Books app is entirely optional — your series can live in the app without it, with readers directed to your existing retailers instead. If you choose to enable it, readers can purchase the Book’s eBook directly in the app and you earn 75% of every sale, reported and paid out quarterly. By enabling it, you confirm you hold the rights to sell the eBook through us. Note for Kindle Unlimited authors: if the Book is enrolled in KDP Select, Amazon holds digital exclusivity — in that case the app links readers to your Amazon page instead, and nothing in this agreement puts you in breach of KDP Select.

You can ask us to unpublish your series from the app and stop new promotion of it at any time, for any reason, and we’ll do so within 7 days. Already-published social posts may remain unless you ask for those to come down too.

If you cancel before production begins, we refund your payment in full. If you cancel mid-production, amounts already paid cover the work done and aren’t refunded. If we determine production isn’t feasible, we may cancel and refund everything you’ve paid.

We are independent parties — this is a production-services agreement, not employment, and we are not a publisher acquiring rights in the Book. This document is the entire agreement for your Package and is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. It is accepted by completing checkout for a Package.
